MACBETH, TWELFTH NIGHT Set For St. Louis Shapespeare 25th Season

In 2009, St. Louis Shakespeare celebrates its 25th year presenting classical theatre in St. Louis. Join us for a season of comedy, tragedy, romance and a thrilling pirate yarn! SLS' 25th season runs from July to November 2009 and includes three plays by Shakespeare and one non-Shakespearean classic. The season opens in July with THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, directed by Jerry Vogel, followed in August by TWELFTH NIGHT, directed by Carolyne Hood. In October we present MACBETH directed by Bill Whitaker. The three Shakespeare plays will be performed at the Grandel Theatre in the Grand Center Arts District. In November we return with an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's TREASURE ISLAND, directed by SLS Artistic Director Donna Northcott, and presented at the Missouri History Museum as part of their Performing Arts Series.

SLS offers reduced-price student matinee performances of MACBETH, a program enthusiastically embraced by area high schools. SLS also presents free, pre-show discussions on the first Saturday of each production.

SLS is pleased to be a part of bringing St. Louisans to the city by performing in the beautifully restored Grandel Theatre in the Grand Center Arts District and the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park.
