BWW Reviews: The Rep's Incredibly Funny Production of NOISES OFF

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis closes another wonderful season with playwright Michael Frayn's hilarious farce within a farce, NOISES OFF. Frayn's work is just downright funny, but it's especially amusing to anyone who's ever taken part in a stage production sometime in their life. The Rep's presentation is excellent, with a talented cast that seems to be having a blast playing this material. It's a marvelous way to bring the season to an end, and it's a must-see production.

BWW Reviews: The Rep Presents Stellar BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS

It may seem odd that over the course of 46 seasons the Rep has never produced a work by prolific playwright Neil Simon, and yet it makes sense in a way. Simon has actually been overproduced by community theatres around the country, and the Rep is dedicated to seeking out new works, and putting a spin on timeless classics, so it's only logical that they've taken this long to get one of his works produced. Still, they've finally gotten around to him, and their production of BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS is a memorable one, with the laughter and the tears flowing in great abundance. It's a wonderful start to what promises to be an entertaining season.

BWW Reviews: Repertory Theatre of St. Louis Opens Season with YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU

George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's classic play, YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU, has been given a wonderfully performed and staged presentation by the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. This venerable favorite is brought to life in splendid fashion, with a superb cast proving that Kaufman and Hart's punchlines still hold up over 70 after the fact, and that some of the them, especially those regarding the ways in which our government spends our tax dollars, still ring resoundingly true and clear today.

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK Closes at The Rep, 3/7

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) continues its 2009-2010 Mainstage series with Wendy Kesselman's adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett.

REVIEW: Repertory Theatre of St. Louis Present Powerful Production of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK

Playwright Wendy Kesselman has referred to her current adaptation of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK as the definitive version, and considering the fact that newly available passages of Anne's diary were incorporated into the text, it's certainly more eye opening in a lot of respects. Kesselman gives us a more thorough understanding of Anne, while also enhancing some of the darker aspects of her story, packing this episode in history with considerable emotional weight. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is presenting a superb staging of this fresh adaptation (February 10 - March 7), featuring a stellar ensemble that breathes new life into this tragic tale.
